Born in Hong Kong, schooled in Melbourne, arriving Sydney late 1993, Chinese-Australian Bonita began work as a PA after a few failed attempts at Uni but found her interests always came back to all things related with beauty, hair, cosmetics and make-up. Whilst working as a weekend children’s party entertainer, she began a make-up certificate at 3 Arts Make-up Academy in Chippendale in 2000. There she met a friend who introduced her to the Lancome “Travelling” team and has never looked back.
Bonita’s make-up career with the famous cosmetic house was short lived however, and she quickly moved onto a senior make-up artist role at Mecca Cosmetica by mid-2001. Their extensive training on all their high-end skin and make-up brands, allowed Bonita to develop a broad knowledge of their range and a great general understanding of many skin and beauty products and their cosmetic ingredients.
She is regarded as a very talented and technical make-up artist amongst her peers, and has continued to train with “guest” artists to constantly improve her skills at Hair and Make-up. Teaching and hosting Mecca make-up workshops and events, she once dealt regularly with the Beauty Editors looking for the latest make-up trends. Her Commercial and Fashion work can be seen at www.bonita.com.au
Bonita also had the privilege of gaining fast-track industry experience formerly assisting (and perfecting her make-up skills) with some of Australia’s top, elite fashion and highly acclaimed beauty make-up artists including Dotti, Liz Jones, Linda Jefferyes, celebrity make-up artists Craig Beaglehole and Rae Morris; also a best-selling international beauty author, trainer and former Australian Make-up Director for cosmetic giant L’oreal.
Bonita’s beauty training reflects in her flawless and gorgeous make-up work; although Bonita’s Brides enjoy her sophisticated, natural, elegant style, she can certainly create something more dramatic, or make-up something especially suited to your individual heart’s desire.
